While, in its present form, the hobby of modeling might be relatively new, the ambition of recreating real life in miniature is really very ancient. Today, many hobby enthusiasts engaged in making and/or painting miniatures (or figures, if you prefer), tend to say that the miniature is an art form, divorced from any other area of modeling. It is not easy to disagree as, in recent years, miniature scenes of unbelievable beauty and technical expertise have appeared. Replicating humans in miniature form is always more attractive than, say, just making vehicles, armor, or other modeling subjects. The small scenes that take shape under the artist's hands are of an exceptional intricacy and demand large amounts of effort, as well as great a deal of time. However, the creators of such scenes never regret the time and effort involved as the end result is enchanting and awe inspiring for everyone to see. In this book, that has taken many months in preparation, we tried to gather representative samples as well as different forms of work. Here you will find the painting of commercial pieces, sculpting, conversions, work on ground presentation and scenery, historical texts, indeed, many different aspects of our hobby have been covered. However, we have also endeavored to ensure they are all the same standard, from creators and painters from all corners of the globe, to make this presentation as interesting as possible for the modeler, be they beginner or master. This collection of work is aimed at all levels of modelers. Color tone recipes, sculpting tips, brushwork tricks, groundwork techniques, and much more, all submitted by well known artists, compile this mosaic of inspiration that we hope will keep you occupied for many happy hours.
